Jay Beck

Ohmo of the Last Eyes / Puzzlemaster

Jay Beck is a percussionist, vocalist, drum-maker, actor, and educator who has been performing, teaching, touring, and recording professionally for many years, including as a member of the band Psalters. He is a founder of Holy Fool Arts, a core organizer for the Carnival de Resistance, and collaborates with his partner Tevyn East at their secret headquarters called Dreaming Stone in North Carolina.

Claire Bieber

Sheridan / Chorus

Sam-Claire Bieber: is a junior studying Theatre and English at the University of Kentucky. She is a certified Actor-Combatant with Society of American Fight Directors with certifications in five weapons. Sam-Claire is also the Founder and President of UK’s Brat Pack Stage Combat. Past Credits include: Equivocation (Asst. Dir.), The Importance of Being Earnest (Asst. Dir.), and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf (Asst. Dir.) all with AthensWest Theatre Company; My Good Side (Agent), Machinal (Ensemble), and Hand To God (Jessica) all with University of Kentucky Dept. of Theatre and Dance. She would like to thank her family for their continued love and support and the rest of the Aftterculture Theatre for their incredible amount of curiosity, empathy, and hard work throughout the process.

Shayne Brakefield

John Lawrence / Faust

Shayne is honored to be collaborating with Afterculture Theatre. A professional actor for 20 years, Mr. Brakefield is a proud graduate of the full time Meisner program at the William Esper Studio, in NYC. He also studied Improv at Upright Citizens Brigade, founded by Amy Poehler. A Licensed Massage Therapist, Shayne is also a proud graduate of Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences, in NYC. Jennifer Little

Kora / Chorus

Jennifer Little has been acting in Lexington since the mid-2000’s, gaining some of her earliest acting experience with the Lexington Children’s Theatre’s Junior Company and participating in school performances through 2012. She also competed in dance and sang in her high school’s choir, performing at All-State her senior year of high school. Who Holds the Devil is her first theatrical performance since those days, and she is thrilled to be back on stage. After leaving school, Jennifer travelled and trained in flow arts, specializing in fire poi. She received her 200-hour yoga teaching certification from the Lexington Healing Arts Academy in October 2019 and now teaches yoga classes and leads workshops on self-healing through shadow work. When she’s not sharing her love for yoga, you can find Jennifer hanging out with her dog and cats, researching metaphysics, side hustles, and permaculture techniques, or playing music, cooking, and daydreaming with her partner and friends.

Samuel

Shama / Mephistopheles

Samuel is co-founder and Creative Director of Afterculture Theatre. He holds a BA in Philosophy and an MPA. Samuel has released four full length albums as an independent singer-songwriter and works regularly as an actor and sound designer.

Raylee Magill

Nova / Chorus

Raylee Magill loves storytelling and is excited and honored to be working with such a dynamic group of artists and weirdos telling the story of Who Holds The Devil. She has been acting professionally on stage and screen since 2004, and has been creating her own content since 2016 with her husband and their production company Homestead Studios. They currently have two films in the festival circuit, and they are in pre-production for their third film. Raylee is also involved with Central Kentucky's Improv group Rhonda which performs locally at Al's Bar and AHAVA. She is also a proud member of SAG/Aftra. She would like to thank Tay, JD, and Sam for this crazy-cool opportunity to be a part of this artistic adventure. Cheers!

Sylvannah Regalado

Lil G / Gretchen

Sylvannah Regalado is a sophomore dance major on the pre-pharmacy track at the University of Kentucky. Some of her previous credits include Frenchie in Cabaret (UK Theatre Department), Featured Dancer in Broadway Under the Stars (Distilled Theatre Company), Choreographer/Dancer in Materialized (UK Dance Department), and Dancer in Louder Than Words (UK Dance Department). She is excited to start off this year with this incredible story and with these beautiful artists. She is honored to be a part of her first Afterculture show, and she is ready for this new year! A big thanks to this entire cast for having open minds and hearts. She’d also like to thank her wonderful family - (Papa, Mama, RJR, JV, Gabie, and Alex) and her best of friends - (Caitlin, Jules, Roberto, Tara, and of course Jonathan) for always supporting her through everything.

Claire Rose

June / Chorus

Claire Rose is a musician, dancer, and artist based in Lexington, KY. She plays music locally in a family band called The Partisans, and occasionally in local accordion band, The Dischordions. Her main passions are painting, playing music, choreographing, and performing, and her aspirations remain in performance art. She dances with Blackbird Dance Theatre and will be joining Afterculture Theatre for the second time in Who Holds the Devil.

JD Frost was raised in a German Opera house and continues their training in different forms of dance, voice, and performance arts, including ballet, tap, jazz, contact improv, Butoh, Deep Listening, classical voice, Viewpoints, Meisner, Chekhov, and devised theatre. They work as stage and movement director for theatre and opera, as performer, producer, designer, builder, and facilitator. They understand theatre and dance as sacred ritual and ceremony. We gather to perform and to witness, remembering our collective past while visualizing and materializing the future we need to build.

TOM WILLIS

Lighting Design / Technical Guru Extraordinaire

Tom Willis is a lighting and scenic designer in Central Kentucky. Memorable designs include Blackbird Dance Theatre's Robando, AthensWest's production of 33 Variations and To Kill a Mockingbird, Transy Theatre's Silent Sky, Looking for Lilith's world premier of LUZ, and UK Opera Theatre's Silent Night. In addition to collaborations with theatre companies, musicians, and visual artists, Tom enjoys experimenting with projection mapping and motion graphics. He is the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center's Technical Director, where he works with a variety of artists to present performances to all ages. He holds a BA in Drama from the University of Kentucky, College of Fine Arts. www.willisdesigns.net

SHELBY VOGELPOHL

Shelby Vogelpohl is new to the Afterculture Theatre team and is thrilled to be working with friends on "Who Holds the Devil". A graduate of the University of Kentucky Department of Theatre, Vogelpohl spent a two years after graduation working at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival before making her return to Lexington. Finding more fulfillment out of heartfelt, immersive theatre over large festival stages, she is glad to be back in Kentucky working with a dedicated group of like-minded individuals.

MEA ADAMS

Mea Adams is a visual artist, sculptor, and installation artist based in Lexington, Kentucky. She graduated with her BFA in Studio Art and currently curates and hosts beautiful events with the local venue, The Apiary. She has lived and worked all over the world, but currently enjoys Saturday evenings with her sweet boy, Wendell the pup.

TAY SCHULZ

Co-Director / Producer

Tay holds a BFA in Acting and now passionately purses the intersection of social change and embodied storytelling. They are a teaching artist specializing in movement and devised collaborative play, a Theatre of the Oppressed facilitator, a community organizer, and a collaborator on large-scale theatrical projects, most notably through Afterculture and Holy Fool Art’s Carnival de Resistance. They have assisted on films in Lexington and Atlanta, and perform as an actor as often as possible.

HELEN HALE

Guest Artist / Devising Collaborator

Helen Hale is a dance maker, embodiment scholar, and rogue cultural agent. Director of Helen Hale Dance and HAVEN floral arts, Helen performs, teaches, bedecks people and places with plants, designs events, and instigates community gatherings. Her work aims to provide heavy doses of romance, drama, and joy and has been presented by the High Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, Dashboard, Galleries at Moore, The Lucky Penny, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Temple University, Alfred University, and Dance Truck, among others. Helen currently resides in Atlanta, GA where she can be found hanging out in the park, drinking gallons of Crystal hot sauce, and turning the car radio up too loud.

TEVYN EAST

Guest Artist / Storyteller Voice / Devising Collaborator

Tevyn East dedicated 20 years to dance and cultural productions. After graduating from Hollins University in '01, she collaboratively devised dance theater with the Zen Monkey Project in Charlottesville, VA. Shifting her art toward social change, she extensively toured the US with her anti-capitalist one woman show, produced a film, then co-founded Holy Fool Arts. That theatrical production company drew in more collaborators to launch the Carnival de Resistance - a carnival, school, and eco-village that had 7 residencies in different parts of the country. She recently relocated to Rutherfordton, NC, to co-found Dreaming Stone - a farm and cultural center dedicated to restorative practices and regenerative design.

Ayna Lorenzo is a portrait, wedding, and event photographer based in Lexington, KY. She finds people endlessly fascinating, adores creating meaningful narrative through imagery, and will document connection and creativity wherever she can find it. She is passionate about taking photos that can capture and interpret the work of artists and actors, and so excited to be working with Afterculture theatre for their next amazing production.

Originally hailing from the great state of Michigan, Isaac loves telling stories on screen and finding spontaneous performance moments during the process. Isaac writes and directs short films from his home in Lexington, KY and plans to direct a feature film within the next few years.
